Social Worker
Location: LIV Lanseria
Start Date: 03 November 2025
Closing Date: 30 September 2025
Purpose
The Social Worker provides social work services (casework, group work, and community work) for LIV Lanseria programmes and neighbouring communities. This role ensures children and families receive holistic, Christ-centred care in alignment with LIV Lanseria’s values, professional social work standards, and Christian ethics.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Strategic Work
- Apply professional social work methods with a trauma-informed, Christ-centred approach.
- Pursue professional and spiritual growth.
- Ensure programme compliance with DSD, DOJ, DOE, and SACSSP requirements.
- Network with community role players and advocate for children’s best interests.
- Keep LIV Lanseria leadership informed of community and family needs.
2. Therapeutic & Community Services
- Provide counselling and therapeutic group work to children and families.
- Offer crisis intervention and crisis management services.
- Advocate for child protection and holistic well-being.
- Conduct home visits and provide referrals to community resources.
3. Case & Administrative Work
- Maintain case files for all SSD children and clients.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and statistics for compliance and monitoring.
- Supervise Child and Youth Care Workers (CYCWs) in SSD and provide case supervision.
- Oversee food and donation distribution with transparency and accountability.
- Implement and monitor Individual Development Plans (IDPs).
4. Registration & Compliance
- Update and maintain all necessary documentation for DSD registration and compliance processes.
- Monitor children’s statutory files, orders, assessments, and panel meetings with DSD social workers.
5. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Contribute to treatment teams and therapeutic programming.
- Support implementation of recreational and developmental activities in Baby Home and LIV Families.
- Collaborate with CPOs, DSD social workers, and other professionals.
- Attend meetings and forums (SASCOM, SSD cluster, CYCW monthly, West Rand CYCC quarterly).
6. Company-Wide Duties
- Uphold LIV Lanseria’s value system and observe confidentiality.
- Participate in Monday morning devotions and broader village activities.
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by leadership aligned with the role.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor of Social Work degree.
- Registration with SACSSP (in good standing).
- Strong administrative and case management skills.
- 2+ years’ experience in social work with children and families (advantageous).
- Crisis intervention and therapeutic counselling experience.
- Spiritually mature, professional, and team-oriented.
- Valid driver’s license.
Work Hours
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Occasional evenings and weekends as required.
