On 21 June 2025, something truly special was cooking in the heart of Durbanville. Clash of the Chefs – Durbanville 2025 wasn’t just a culinary showdown, it was a powerful, joy-filled step toward our dream: opening a baby home under the LIV Cape Town vision.
Imagine it: the scent of wood-fired beef in the air, the sound of laughter echoing through the vineyard, and the buzz of people gathering, all with one goal in mind – to give eight precious babies in crisis a place to call home.
Our future baby home will be more than a building. It will be a place of safety, stability, and unconditional love. A warm haven where little ones are nurtured day and night, wrapped in care, and gently prepared for the forever families God is already choosing for them.
Hosted at the breathtaking D’Aria Winery, the event was an unforgettable fusion of gourmet food, heartfelt purpose, and community connection. Eight top local chefs went head-to-head in a live cook-off, dazzling guests with plates that were nothing short of edible art.
Here’s a taste of what had guests raving:
- Fried octopus dumpling with teriyaki, bonito, kewpie, and radish
- Thai-style king prawns with coconut rice and mango salsa
- Woodfired beef flat rib, shiitake chestnut jam, brown butter herboon mash, and charred pea salsa
- Herbed crusted venison loin with textures of beetroot and thyme jus
- And for dessert: Brown sugar meringue with citrus curd and passion fruit cream
While the chefs battled it out, guests soaked in every flavour, shared stories around tables, and celebrated the power of coming together for the cause.
