LIV LANSERIA IS A LIFE GIVING VILLAGE FOR ORPHANED AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN WHICH PRODUCES HEALTHY FAMILIES, EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES AND FUTURE LEADERS FOR SOUTH AFRICA.
EMPOWERING LANSERIA COMMUNITIES FOR
OVER 30 YEARS
Our journey started in 1991 when Jean Steward and Yvonne Jacques opened a Christian healthcare clinic in the Drummond Informal settlement. Over the years, the project evolved and in 2005 relocated and was renamed as Refilwe Community Project.
In August 2018, they joined the LIV family as LIV Lanseria, to become a part of the national footprint of impact and lasting change. This partnership empowers us to transform many more lives, instil hope and create a brighter future for Lanseria communities. The village is now led by Le-anne Kleynhans and we have a heart to serve our community by positively impacting the children in as many ways as possible.
GIVING LIFE TO THOSE IN OUR CARE
At LIV Lanseria, we believe the power of making a lasting impact comes through working with our own community to rescue, raise, restore and release.
We offer various programmes to the children in our care and our surrounding community:
PROVIDING A SAFE AND LOVING HOME FOR BABIES ON THEIR WAY TO THEIR FOREVER FAMILY
Currently, we have the capacity to care for up to 16 babies who are on the road to permanency, whether through reunification with their birth families or through local and inter-country adoption placements.
In our nurturing environment we create a loving atmosphere where they can thrive and flourish, giving them the best possible start to life.
PROVIDING A HEALTHY FAMILY FOR CHILDREN PREVIOUSLY AT RISK
LIV Families is a programme that gives children, who were previously at risk, a healthy family environment. They are placed with us in a safe and loving home by the Department of Social Development.
Our programme offers an after school programme, transport to local schools, housing for the families, and a safe environment for children to be raised with care and love.
RAISING FUTURE LEADERS AT REFILWE PRESCHOOL
At Refilwe Preschool, we provide early childhood development to 90 children starting as early as 4 months old. Many of these little ones come from vulnerable families, and we believe in giving them the best possible start in life.
We understand that quality development and education are key to breaking the cycle of poverty and setting children up for success in the next phase of education.
From building strong foundations in literacy and numeracy to encouraging social skills and emotional well-being, we equip our little learners with the tools they need to thrive.
We also partner with Rise Against Hunger to distribute food to over 4000 children every week.
EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE AT ITHUTENG AFTERSCHOOL
We provide a safe space for 250 learners from our community. Here, they receive valuable assistance with their homework and studies, aiming to achieve their Matric and pursue higher education or employment opportunities.
By promoting a hand-up approach rather than a handout, we encourage all learners to bring recyclable items, which they can exchange for essential household goods to support their families, while gaining valuable life skills.
ENCOUTERING GOD AT CHILDREN’S AND TEEN MINISTRY
We believe that no star can shine it’s brightest unless they know God and understand their identity in Him. At Children’s ministry we introduce the children of the village and surrounding communities to God and His unwavering love for each of them.
In Teen Ministry, we express God’s love to our teens by actively listening to their needs, having fun together, and offering them support. We share the powerful Word of God and provide a safe space for them to discover and develop their unique identity.
