ONE27 is a movement of people, churches, families and NPOs who believe for more. We want to live James 1:27. We take responsibility through foster care, adoption and partnerships that cover and care for vulnerable children.

We can all play a part, working and learning together. What could be a greater expression of the Fathers heart than orphans being placed into family through the church?

Our gospel is bigger than the size of the mountain ahead. Nothing is impossible with Him.

MESSAGE

Through the message of James 1:27 we want to inspire and mobilise the church to own and demonstrate the gospel.

We carry the call of James 1:27 into pulpits, podcasts, small groups, conferences and conversations across the nation.

RESOURCE

We point you in the right direction, connect you to the right people, and share anything with you on your journey that may be helpful – Starting with our own experiences in looking after children as well as connecting you to NPO’s, churches, placing agencies, and social workers that could assist you.

SERVE

We walk alongside you in your process and decision to change lives – supporting churches, families and organisations as they take the next step.

Let mission start at home

Whether you are a married couple or single, if you feel called to be obedient to the mandate of looking after vulnerable and orphaned children we want to support you.

Family is Gods idea, His design for community, covering and discipleship. Children need a safe, nurturing family environment to be able to root, establish and flourish in life. Devastatingly so many children don’t experience this, they grow up unsafe, uncovered and uncertain about themselves and their futures.

Survival is their mandate until they taste grace.

Rejection is their story until they encounter love.

Loneliness is their portion until they experience family.

This was also us until God made a way through Jesus. He drew us near, cleaned us up and gave us a place in Gods family.

Taking responsibility for a child is a radical step of obedience. It takes faith, the empowering of the Holy Spirit and perseverance.

Taking the journey of foster care/adoption is to live the Fathers heart. It is to share the gospel through your life, shinning your light and delighting in sacrificial love.

Over many years at LIV we have walked with and worked with our mums and children. It is not always easy but it is always Gods will. There has been much to celebrate as well as learn from. Here are some practical ways in which you can take a step:

Speak with your local Pastor about the desire you have
Pray with close friends about the journey ahead
Gain some understanding of processes and procedures you will need to follow
Connect with a local NPO about possibilities of being a host parent/family

Enough families, enough tables

We may not have enough church buildings to house all of the vulnerable children in South Africa, but we do have enough families in the church.

Whether you lead a small or large church, it is enough to answer the call and respond to the crisis we face. It is time to take action, step out in faith and obedience, open our hearts and homes. Cover the uncovered, welcome the lonely into family by being doers of the Word and not simply hearers.

God has a plan for the restoration of children and it is the local church. Through His people God can restore the fortunes of the children of South Africa so that they can dream.

Consider how you, a family in the church or the wider church family can take responsibility for the vulnerable children of South Africa.

Ways you can take responsibility for vulnerable and orphaned children as a church;

Sharing the message of caring for vulnerable and orphaned children through gospel truths
Promote foster care / adoption / host families
Come around foster/adoptive families in your congregation
Host prayer for vulnerable and orphaned children and those who are caring for children
Commit practically or financially to a local NPO that looks after children
Take a mission trip to care for vulnerable children
