BRINGING LIGHT AND RESTORATION TO OUR COMMUNITIES
LIV Eastern Cape is a developing children’s village committed to providing long-term, family-based care for orphaned and vulnerable children. While planning and permissions for the village are underway, we are already actively supporting children through partnerships with existing homes and community organisations across the Eastern Cape.
Our approach prioritises restoration, belonging, and holistic care, with a long-term vision of creating a safe and nurturing environment where children can grow, heal, and thrive.

GIVING HOPE TO OUR COMMUNITIES
At LIV Eastern Cape, we believe lasting change happens through collaboration and community. We are actively partnering with local children’s homes, non-profit organisations, churches, and community leaders across the Eastern Cape to support and strengthen the care of vulnerable children.
By working alongside those already serving faithfully on the ground, we are able to respond to real needs, build meaningful relationships, and make a tangible difference in the lives of children and families who need it most.

STRENGTHENING EXISTING CHILDREN’S HOMES IN OUR COMMUNITY
We are deeply committed to supporting and strengthening existing children’s homes in our community. For the past ten years, we have faithfully supported a children’s home in Makhanda (Grahamstown), walking alongside them in their journey of caring for vulnerable children. This long-standing partnership reflects our heart to invest deeply and consistently in the lives of children and their caregivers.
In addition, we partner with LIV Thokomola, where we take care of two homes in the Eastern Cape. Through this partnership, we provide pastoral care, regular wellness checks, and practical maintenance assistance to help create stable, supported, and nurturing households.
A key part of our work is connecting children’s homes with generous donors who are passionate about making a lasting difference. Through this support, we help ensure that children have access to essential needs such as food, clothing, bedding, and educational assistance.
We also provide educational materials and resources, while offering ongoing mentorship and encouragement to both the children and their dedicated caregivers. By nurturing and strengthening them at every stage of life, we aim to empower each child with hope, dignity, and the opportunity for a brighter future.

We value connecting with people face-to-face, building meaningful relationships, answering questions, and raising awareness of LIV Eastern Cape — a movement that will bring lasting change on a significant scale.

PREPARING THE FOUNDATIONS — PRACTICALLY AND PRAYERFULLY — FOR THE FUTURE VILLAGE
Since 2020, we have dedicated a significant part of our efforts to securing land-use rights and preparing the land for the construction of our village. Our mission is to provide the best possible care for the children who will one day call our village home, and it all starts with ensuring that the land we build on offers a safe and nurturing environment.
To make this vision a reality, we work with a team of dedicated professionals. Town planners, architects, engineers, and environmentalists have all come together to ensure that every aspect of our project is meticulously planned and executed. Their expertise and commitment are invaluable as we navigate the process of preparing the land for development.
OUR JOURNEY SO FAR
The journey of LIV Eastern Cape began in 2011 when, during a presentation of the LIV vision by Tich Smith, a fire was ignited in Lara Embling’s (nee Kruiskamp’s) heart. Determined to make a lasting difference in her hometown, she brought that vision to Makhanda. In the years that followed, the team actively partnered with local children’s homes, supported vulnerable children, and laid strong foundations for a future village.
The Reddy family has been involved in mercy ministries since 2013 through their church and other organisations. Michelle Reddy’s prayer and pursuit was to find a holistic solution for the people they served. In 2019, the Reddy family was introduced to LIV and began pursuing a similar vision for Port Elizabeth.
As both teams faithfully prepared and prayed into the future, it became clear that their callings were aligned. Through discernment and unity in leadership, the two visions merged — forming LIV Eastern Cape.
Today, we continue building on that foundation by strengthening partnerships, preparing for the development of the village, and trusting God to guide each step. As we anticipate breaking ground on the land, we look ahead with faith and expectation, believing this new chapter will expand our reach and deepen our impact in the lives of vulnerable children across the Eastern Cape.
