Purpose:
To oversee the Social Services Depart (SSD) and provide support to all LIV Lanseria programmes in delivering high-quality social services to children and families, while ensuring compliance with all registration and statutory requirements on the village. This role includes driving the registration process for children, social programs, and organisational compliance.
Key Knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of the Children’s Act 38 of 2005 and related legislative frameworks.
- Expertise in social development policies, needs, and the supervisory role of a social worker.
- Familiarity and proficiency in working with all relevant partners including the Department of Social Development to ensure all relevant registrations are acquired and maintained
- Advanced understanding of human behaviour, family dynamics, and social systems.
- Knowledge of case management, intervention methods, and appropriate techniques in social work.
- Skills to handle complex cases of trauma, emotional stress, and psychosocial challenges.
- Familiarity with social work ethics, principles, and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and guidance to SSD to ensure quality service delivery.
- Monitor, evaluate, and support the implementation of individual and family development plans.
- Oversee the delivery of counselling, psychosocial support, and educational programs.
- Ensure compliance with SACSSP and other regulatory body requirements.
- Drive and manage the registration process for children and programs within the village.
- Handle escalated cases, providing expert input on complex family and child-related issues.
- Compile, review, and approve social work documentation, including reports and statistics.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary team meetings and promote collaboration.
- Identify training needs and provide capacity-building opportunities for the team.
- Represent the organization in external stakeholder engagements related to social work.
Minimum Requirements:
- Social Work qualification (B. Social Work).
- Registration with SACSSP (2023/2024).
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience as a social worker, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience in driving registration and compliance processes is an advantage.
