Education Coordinator
Location: LIV Lanseria
Start Date: 17 March 2025

Purpose:
The Education Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the educational framework at LIV Lanseria’s afterschool programme, Ithuteng. This role ensures that the limited educational time available to learners is structured, uniform, and driven by a Christ-centred curriculum. The Education Coordinator will work closely with the Ithuteng Mentor to set educational goals, oversee curriculum development, and monitor learner progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Educational Framework:
- Collaborate with the Ithuteng Mentor to develop weekly, monthly, and term schedules.
- Identify and recruit resources to enhance the educational framework.
- Create a shared vision for the afterschool programme’s educational goals.
Curriculum Development & Implementation:
- Design and compile a Christ-centred curriculum to drive educational objectives.
- Develop and communicate the curriculum implementation plan.
- Train and equip tutors and afterschool staff in curriculum delivery.
Monitoring & Evaluation:
- Establish and conduct termly monitoring programs for reading and mathematics.
- Evaluate learner progress and compile termly reports.
- Communicate findings to ensure continuous improvement.
Staff Support & Development:
- Assess and address educational support needs within tutoring teams.
- Conduct monthly training meetings for tutors.
- Foster a positive team culture and ensure staff uphold LIV Lanseria’s values.
- Report staffing needs or concerns to the Ithuteng Mentor.
- Encourage and facilitate staff participation in village-wide meetings and events.
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric certificate (Grade 12).
- Undergraduate degree (preferably in Education or a related field), or relevant experience in education, tutoring, or curriculum development. Candidates currently pursuing their degree are also encouraged to apply.
- Experience in education, tutoring, or curriculum development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a teachable spirit.
- Good English comprehension and writing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Work Hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Occasional Saturdays as needed
