WE ALL SCREAM FOR ICE CREAM!

Do you have something at home that you’ve been meaning to fix for years but never quite got round to it? For us, that ‘something’ was our soft serve machine.

Years ago, someone kindly donated a machine, but one day, it did one churn too many – and gave up the ghost…

Naturally, when there’s a long list of things to do – the ice cream machine isn’t anyone’s first priority. One day, we decided to call one of our long-term supporters to thank him for his generous donations and continued support of the village. As he and our finance manager were chatting, something unexpected came up. It turned out that his company supplies soft serve machines and all the supplies that go with them!

We took the opportunity to mention that our own soft serve machine had been out of order for a while and asked if his technician could come by to take a look. Keen to help, he not only offered to repair the machine – but he also committed to giving the children at LIV a life supply of soft serve!

So now, once a week (we’ve installed a limit because what child wouldn’t fancy their chances at exhausting a life’s supply of ice cream?) – a queue forms at Ma V’s cafe for an end-of-week soft serve reward for children with good behaviour in school that week.

It’s always such a lovely moment in the week – especially when the sun is shining!  For us, the ice cream queue is a great reminder that the Father always takes care of us – even in the things that we’ve forgotten about, and might be collecting dust at the back of the room. But he doesn’t forget. He knows exactly what we need, when we need it – and why wouldn’t this include a soft serve after school?!

We’re so grateful to have such an eclectic range of supporters, from every dimension of society, and from all over the world – who’d have thought we’d get connected with everyone’s go-to soft-serve guy?!

” Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? “ Matthew 6:26
