This year we ran two poetry competitions as an extra
curricular activity for our LIV school students.
We were delighted that a large number of them decide
to participate and it was wonderful to see their creativity
shine! We are even more impresed by the students when
we consider that English is their second languge.
After running poetry competitions for the high school and
intermediate phase students, the grade 1-3s even
begged the librarians to run a competition for them too,
resulting in brillilant efforts and some very sweet poems
from them!
Here is one of our winning poems. It was written by
Fufu, who won the highschool competition, despite only
being in grade 9.
I Love You Dear Nature
Oh how gorgeous you are,
I see your perfection in many ways.
Such beauty opens my eyes
to seeing a different phase of how life is.
I love the ways you just pop out,
Trees of green and the skies of blue
That’s not only what I am talking about.
What fascinates me is the hidden natural secrets in you,
Your inexplainable appearance cannot be defined!
You are beautiful inside and out.
You are the heavens I have seen and found.
There aree no doubts.
When I look at you I nee another world,
You are one with a million amazing things,
that we have seen around this world.
I love you dear nature,
You are the one that makes the Earth the best.
Though we have not seen it all,
our next generations will see the rest.
