On the 12th of August 2017, the LIV mothers hosted a Women’s Day celebration event. It was graced by the presence of our Gogo, Joan Smith, the beautiful women of the Cottonlands community, LIV staff members, and the family and friends of staff and mothers. The key theme of the event was “be you….for you are fearfully and wonderfully made”, derived from the scripture Psalm 139:14
Woman as the chosen vessel of God
Women were encouraged to walk in their identity as daughters of the Most High God that created them. There were two guest speakers, namely Lesley van Straaten and Pastor Sokhulu. Lesley van Straaten, who is a primary school teacher, a friend of the village, and member of Harvest Church encouraged women and mothers to trust in God as they have been entrusted with the important role of raising children to be Godly and thriving individuals. Mrs Sokhulu, a pastor from Kairos ministries preached about women being chosen vessels of God. She encouraged women to be like the Hebrew midwives in Exodus who were chosen by God to preserve the nation of Israel by making sure that the sons of Israel were not killed by the Egyptian rulers.
Faith in Action
At the end of the event, the ladies were blown away by the testimony of the biological mother of two of our LIV children. She testified about how having her kids at LIV has helped bring healing and restoration in her own life.
We are grateful for everyone involved in the preparation of this event. The event was the success that it was, thanks to you!
