On Friday the 2nd of March Unilever with their Sustainable Living Programme came to visit LIV School. The day was an overwhelming success with the students not only enjoying themselves but, in the process, also learning a lot.
The programme was split into two different categories; “The Dove Programme” and “The Lifebouy Programme.”
The Dove Programme focused on empowering self esteem. The older learners from grade 7-12 were split into smaller groups and they had discussions on various topics and situations about “self.” Unrealistic appearance ideals, how to reduce appearance-focused comparisons, body activism and positive behaviour change were some of the topics that were discussed. The children actively took part and found the session to be informative and uplifting.
The Lifebouy Programme involved our little ones from grade 1-6 and was all about the importance of hygiene. The significance and awareness of what the benefits are to us when we look after our own hygiene was shared. Our boys and girls were given practical examples to increase their knowledge about hygiene and had loads of fun in the process.
We would like to thank Unilever for a fun filled day that was beneficial to our learners. A space was created for them to learn and explore more about themselves, as well as day to day basics we all need to change the world around us.
