At the beginning of April this year we had the privilege of having 14 people from Soul Survivor join us for a community project, upgrading a local creche in the heart of Cottonlands. Together with our LIV4Change students, we managed to re-paint the inside and outside of the school building, lay a new carpet for them and create art for the classroom.
Outside we dug garden beds and planted Moringa seeds. These amazing plants have incredible health benefits (which LIV Moringa have been quick to utilise) and the plants will hopefully be a source of joy and nourishment for future children in the community. They also put up fences around the classroom to keep the children safe. Furthermore we also completely re-furbished their jungle gyms and swings so that the children can have fun during their break times.
The main project was building them an outside shelter where the kids can now sit and eat their meals together without being exposed to the scorching sun and pouring rain, making school a much more enjoyable experience for all. The project was hard work but incredibly rewarding for all those involved and we can’t wait to see the incredible individuals this school will release into South Africa.
