REMEDIAL THERAPIST
We are looking for a suitably qualified innovative, dynamic, and experienced Remedial therapist, who has a love and passion for children, to join our LIV Durban Team.
The successful candidate will be based at LIV Durban.
Applicants should:
o be willing to support the Christian ethos of LIV and character and share in the vision of LIV Village.
o A qualification in teaching and a postgraduate qualification in special needs / remedial education.
o A keen understanding of different educational needs and how to address these in both Junior and Senior Primary pupils.
o The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, particularly with teachers to provide holistic therapy.
o Experience of administration, scoring and interpretation of Educational Assessments and the designing of individual support programmes.
o Good problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication skills.
o Good report writing skills.
o Competence in speaking, reading, and writing English; Zulu speaking an advantage.
o Ideally, 2-3 years’ experience providing remedial support in a school environment.
The successful candidate will be required to:
o Develop individual learning development plans for flagged learners (IEDP)
o Provide individual learning support therapy to flagged learners between grade 1 and 7
o Provide support and training to teachers on inclusive classroom and teaching strategies.
o As needed, develop programmes to support remediation of learners, such as learn-to-read, mathematics, and study skill-based programmes for learners.
o Form part of the School Based Support Team (SBST)
Start Date: 01 March 2023.
