Planting, Painting and Partnership.
On the 25th of August LIV Village was full of excitement as our long-standing partners, Private Property, came to spend a day serving on the village.
The fence along the driveway was reset, repaired and restored to full glory. 150 beautiful Bougainvillea were planted to not only brighten the entrance leading to our beautiful home but also provide privacy to the clusters closer to the entrance. They will serve as a beautiful reminder of our ongoing partnership.
Diamonds in the Rough
While one part of the team was working hard at the entrance, other exciting changes were taking place in the “Diamond classroom” (our Special Needs-classroom.) The team from the tv-programme, “Vat Jou Goed en Trek” joined the Durban Private Property team to do a complete playground and classroom makeover. New sensory gardens, coloured walls, animal shaped flower planters and a sandpit are now decorating the outside appearance but the real magic, however, is evident inside the classroom. The ceilings, previously falling apart bit by bit, were repaired and draped in blue fabric. Wooden clouds were added to the lighting fixtures resembling the sky. A facade of a giant castle was erected in one of the corners of the room along with a comfortable rug to enhance the joy of story time.
Our Special Needs-classroom is such a valuable asset to the village and the children so it really was a touching moment when our Special Needs-teacher and children walked in to see the unveiling of their new learning environment.
The Greatest in the Kingdom
We cherish partnerships like the one we have with Private Property. These teams were not afraid to jump in and work hard with servant hearts! At the end of the day, they may have left with very dirty hands but also with full hearts, knowing that they have made a difference in the lives of the LIV children. We can’t wait to see them again soon!
