Waratah’s Visit – The Most Gentle Giants
Super rugby season is exciting, not just for those who appreciate the game, but also for those who live here at LIV Village. Around this time every year we have a visit from one or two of the traveling rugby teams. Recently we were blessed with a visit from the New South Wales Waratah’s. This visit was definitely one worth waiting a rugby season for.
Players like Israel Folau, Sekope Kepu, Taqele Naiyaravoro and Paddy Ryan to mention a few, spent the afternoon with us. The hearts that these guys had, were no doubt bigger than their biceps, and the love they showed our children was stronger than any scrum. They spent time teaching some of our older boys ball &strategy skills, as well as played a touch rugby match with them before handing over some of their official rugby jerseys. Our smaller kids got the more gentle kind of quality time: Reading, colouring and even becoming a jungle gym were all activities that the Waratahs quickly found comfort in. Not only did they show us love, but our beautiful children showed them some too.
What a special day with these giant guests. It was definitely hard to see them leave, and we truly cannot wait for them to come back.
