On the 31st of August 2017 LIV received a beautiful visit…literally and figuratively speaking. 86 Mrs Universe contestants from across the world joined LIV Village for a morning of interaction, impartation and encouragement.
The annual Mrs Universe Contest is a beauty pageant focused on creating awareness against woman and child abuse across the world. These 86 ladies are fierce activists for women and children who are being abused and misused and are passionate about creating a safe environment for vulnerable individuals who are in danger. This is the very first time that this event is hosted on African soil and the city of Durban was the chosen designation for this extravagant pageant.
The excitement was tangible all across the village when the two double-decker buses entered through the gates. The ladies were entertained with a performance by the LIV Choir, had a chance to do a tour of the village and visit all the different departments to see what LIV is all about and enjoyed a delicious lunch with the LIV children. During lunch the children had a chance to ask them questions and some of the very talented ladies even shared a song or two with the kids. The ladies also handed out an enormous amount of presents so the LIV kids got spoilt rotten and could most definitely feel the love.
LIV Village is also passionate about creating a safe environment for vulnerable children and to receive these beautiful women in our midst and see them interact with our children in an encouraging way, was indeed a beautiful sight. We watched as many smiling faces walked back to their clusters; a place of safety and refuge for these precious children of South Africa.
From all the children of LIV Village: Congratulations Mrs Vietnam! We wish you all the best for your term as Mrs Universe!
