2018 is a big year for LIV Village. Not only is it the 21st year since the vision was given to Tich Smith in 1997, but it is the 7th year since we welcomed our first moms and kids to the village and the first year that we will be having matriculates on the desks of LIV School; aiming to release them into the world of tertiary education at the end of 2018. By doing so, we will directly contribute to the economy of South Africa, adding value to the future of our beloved nation.
These six matriculates will be writing their final school exams in November 2018 and LIV School has never been more proud. The group consists of an aspirant logistics manager, beauty therapist, teacher, computer programmer and two gifted musicians. These kids are determined to make the most of 2018 and apart from many hours in the classroom, they are willing to attend evening classes and extra lessons to ensure that they finish their school career on a high note.
LIV School has worked really hard in 2017 to ensure that our matriculates will be able to write their exams in our own school hall. Endless hours of work allowed for an application submission to get our school registered as an accredited exam center and now we are looking forward to build on the foundation that this first group of Grade 12’s will lay.
Four of these six kids were part of the very first group of children that arrived at the village on Women’s Day (9 August) 2011. We have watched them grow from teenagers into men and women whose identities are firmly founded in truth and who know that there is hope. These children are mature, stable and strong-minded individuals who have the ability to make wise decisions. They contribute to their households, take care of their younger siblings, are stars on the sport field and partake in various activities; from worship leading to exploring photography talents and excelling at speech contests. They are normal teenagers who love spending time with their friends and dream of having families one day.
