LIV2Run was started in August 2016 with 11 children, 1 mother and 3 Cottonlands community members attending the first training session. Our vision is threefold – to have a running club on the Village, a running club in the local community and to cater for those who want to race for LIV and raise funds.
Currently our club offers the following opportunities for our members:
· Weekly training session at LIV Village for the whole club
· Parkrun every second Saturday for the whole club
· Weekly time trial at Dolphins Club, Salt Rock for the senior squad. (Children 13 years and older who show passion and commitment)
·Attending some of the KZN Trail running races on their calendar as we are able to fit them in our Village calendar.
KZN Trail running have been a phenomenal partner to LIV from 2016, offering our children unlimited development entries into all their races. Our partnership is based on our mutual love for the sport and our commitment to mentor the children within this arena.
In February this year we heard the exciting news that City Logistics wanted to partner with us to sponsor our team running kit. Team clothes are so important in building team and a sense of belonging. We are so grateful for this partnership and excited that they have indicated that they would like to continue supporting us in their next financial year.
Already we have many amazing testimonies from our running club – watching children blossom into their athletic potential. We have also been blessed to see our mums taking part and achieving what they previously thought was impossible.
Three of our Running Club athletes have qualified for the South African Biathlon Championships in Paarl, WC on the 8th of April. We are so excited to see them compete.
