This year some of our LIV Foster Mums have started the ‘End User Computer’ training course at the LIV Training department. We love to give mums oportunities to gain useful skills and training, and being computer literate is an essential skill for a lot of workplaces. Part of the vision of LIV is upskilling and empowering the members of our community. We have 7 LIV foster mums in the computer class alongside staff from LIV Clean, LIV Agriculture and LIV Labels. The modules they are studying are Introduction to the computer, Microsoft word, Microsoft Exel, Microsoft Powerpoint and Emails.
Mum Nonjabulo’s story
I joined the computer school because I saw it as a great opportunity to gain essential skills for my position at the school. I assist in the grade 5 class, and the computer skills I am gaining mean I can help the teacher even more with admin, resources and other computer related tasks.
It really is a blessing to be able to be a part of the computer school as so many parts of life require technology these days. I am finding the classes fun and informative, and although some of the lessons have been more difficult, like learning to use Exel, I am learning a lot. I hope this training will open up more oportunities for me and will give me more confidence when using technology.
I would like to thank Anne Meyer and all at LIV training for giving me this great opportunity without cost to myself. LIV has opened up chances for me that I would not otherwise have, and I am so grateful.
