At LIV we celebrate family. We celebrate the different people who live on the village, we celebrate the gifts and talents we have been given by our Maker and we celebrate our Father in heaven who makes everything we do possible. On Saturday 19th May, our children had the opportunity to invite their extended family to the village on our very first LIV Family Day, and show them the place we all call home. Our LIV mothers did an incredible job of making everyone feel so welcome and it was amazing to see everyone come together and share in the enjoyment.
As each family arrived and began to set up home away from home, the hall filled with children and guests. Each family was given a small section of the hall to furnish however they pleased and they could decide on a colour scheme for their families. We had whole families in colour coordinated outfits, big sofa cushions spread on the floor and even some pot plants on the steps. The beautiful bright colours that surrounded the outside of the hall were mixed with smiling guests and laughing children.
Our very own Mr Clive began the day with a heart-warming welcome, before Coach Jonathan shared a beautiful message of what it means to be family and the need to this country to return back to a family based culture. The older girls and boys were also encouraged to be the change they wanted to see, to step up and rebuild their culture with family at the centre and change our nation for the better.

- Gum Boot Boys
This was followed by some of the children reading poems they had written themselves and then the dancing and singing began. A gum boot dance from the older boys and then some of our youngest girls confidently showed off their moves with a traditional Zulu dance. This was followed by some quick hip hop moves from some of our teenagers and some dancing and singing from our LIV moms.
There was also plenty of singing throughout the day with choirs from each cluster performing along with the LIV Choir doing a few songs and then one of our oldest boys performing a solo. So much talent was on show for our guests and the children really enjoyed sharing the gifts God has given them. As the formalities ended, the mothers had an opportunity to share lunch with those who had been invited and the children could run around or jump on the jumping castle.
It was such an incredible day and an amazing opportunity to extend the family at LIV. It also created a sense of belonging in coming together as a village to enjoy and celebrate the gifts our Father has given us so abundantly. Thank you so much to all the mothers who worked hard to prepare food, moved house and welcomed others into their families.
