LIV Village exists to write hope stories with one goal – to rescue children (but also individuals from within our surrounding, impoverished communities), restore lives, raise leaders and release stars. We have been privileged to see many lives changed through the work God does through LIV and are continually aiming to reach more and more lives to the glory of Jesus.
In December 2014, Mom Zanele joined the LIV family. The day she came to work at LIV was the day she decided to choose God and put Him first in her life. It was here that she learnt to rely solely on Christ and the plan He has for her. She has always had a passion for children and felt God calling her to serve as a relief mother and caregiver to two of our children with disabilities. She felt at home being a mother to children on the village and it became evident that she was in the right place.
For five years, Mom Zanele served wholeheartedly at LIV whilst also protecting and being a mother to her own children back at home. Her dream was that one day she could serve as a full-time mother on the village and bring her children with her. Sadly, two of her own children were in danger at school and within their local community due to a skin condition called Albinism. It was her prayer every day that they would have a safe place to grow up, a community to engage in and friends to play with.
After many years of patience and obedience, Mom Zanele’s prayers became a reality a few months ago – LIV Durban provided her with the opportunity to become a full-time mother here at the village. She was finally able to bring the two of her children to be part of the LIV family and grow up in a safe and loving environment. The promises God had spoken over her had come into fruition before her very own eyes. When asked about her whole journey, Mom Zanele said “God has His own ways of making everything happen and I am so grateful to the LIV family. God says to us if we are patient with prayer, He will surely answer us. Trust in Him and be strong throughout all that happens in your life.”
Mom Zanele is the LIV house mother of two disabled children. They have been living in a wing of our medical clinic due to the physical challenges and 24/7 care needed by our caregivers. We, however, have always dreamed of creating a beautiful home for them.
Amazing sponsors ( AM Rehabilitasie Trust as well as Genesis Church and Well of Life Church as part of The Genesis Collective ) have allowed for us to renovate one of our houses into a home for these two kids and our Maintenance Team, with the help of volunteers, worked really hard to create a space that is suitable for children with their special needs. Now these two can be included in village life entirely and receive regular visits from their friends.
