LIV Moringa is made from the leaves of the Moringa tree, known as “the miracle tree”.
The potential is huge, not only due to it’s incredible health benefits, but as a cash crop to generate income for LIV towards self sustainability.
Moringa is an excellent natural source of nutrition. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It is packed with high quality protein comprising all 8 essential amino acids, and is a 100% natural sugar-free energy source. For these reasons, moringa is commonly known as one of the most nutritious plants on earth!
In December 2015, LIV launched LIV Moringa, in capsule form, the first of a range of LIV Moringa products to enter the market. Through extensive research, LIV has endeavoured to secure the highest quality leaf powder, with the bulk of it being sourced in South Africa. In addition, the LIV Moringa products are manufactured in an ISO 9001 and SABS certified factory, thereby ensuring a premium product.
As moringa is new to the South African market, LIV recognizes the importance of creating awareness amongst local consumers about the value of taking moringa. In light of this, LIV has partnered with Tevo who, as part of the joint marketing strategy, have put together a National Television Campaign and will manage the distribution of the LIV Moringa products going forward. Sales streams for LIV Moringa have been secured with major South African retailers, and the possibility of export is an exciting prospect.
As a means to secure a future supply of powder, as well as to produce moringa seeds – the oil from which will be used to develop moringa creams, beautifying oils and shampoos – LIV will be planting up to one million moringa trees on the Village, as well as building a processing plant. LIV has employed an experienced moringa farmer to oversee its on-site production and processing.
The LIV Moringa Farm will create numerous work opportunities for the surrounding community. Also on the horizon is the prospect of an out-grower production model, whereby small growers from the community channel their production of moringa leaves and seeds through LIV’s centrally located processing plant. This programme has the potential to uplift and empower hundreds of community members and their families.
