Out of a passion to see women live with dignity, self worth and knowing that they have a Father in Heaven who knows them, loves them and has amazing plans for them, the LIV Women’s Conference was birthed. In 2016, God laid on the heart of Carita McCririe (LIV Leadership) that, one day, there will be an annual women’s conference hosted at LIV Durban. In 2018 Carita attended the world renowned Hillsong Colour Conference in Cape Town and clearly heard God tell her to bring “Colour to Cottonlands.” Bit for bit He revealed that He wants LIV to create an opportunity for women from the local communities to gather, worship and pray and see what God will do in their hearts. On the 8th of June 2019, we did exactly that… almost 350 women, all from different backgrounds and mostly from our local community, came together at the village to discover God’s Wardrobe for their lives – a theme straight from the Word of God and rooted in Colossians 3: 12 – 14 which says “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”

The day started with some of our young men welcoming the ladies who each received a bag with a number of goodies in, including lovely pamper products from Oh So Heavenly. As they arrived they could help themselves to snacks and drinks and get their nails painted as a special add-on. To open up we had loads of fun by giving out 50 pairs of Saint and Summer Shoes to ladies who showed off their dance moves. Three best dressed prizes were rewarded and we witnessed an amazing Fashion Show by Julia Armstrong who is part of the KIT clothing team. Kit collects stories from people all over the world and allow their voices to inform their design, thus weaving hope and the power of testimony into each style. Their desire is to clothe in dignity leaving the wearer confident and inspired.
After a time of worship, we had a panel of women who shared their testimonies and stories. The panel consisted of Magrikie Berg (part of the LIV Team), Mom Dudu Tshapa (LIV Mother), Nerissa Israel (Harbour Lights Tabernacle) and Jean Stewards (founder of Refilwe, now known as LIV Lanseria). These ladies inspired us to embrace God’s wardrobe for our lives. We then entered a time of worship and prayer to allow God to do His work in all of us.
The day was ended off with lunch for all the ladies.
We know that this was only the start of a very special journey. Who knows what will follow from here? “I just know God’s plans are never small and boring. His heart is to rescue women, restore their lives, raise them up for the amazing callings He has put out for them and release them as disciples – empowered to live for Him!” says Carita about future plans for this conference.
