Building a village in Makhanda (Grahamstown) is still our first priority and we are excited that despite the national lockdown, we were able to take further steps in making it happen.
In November 2020, the Department of Agriculture granted LIV Lukhanyiso a permit to subdivide our donated land parcel. This permit allows us to move forward with our land use rights process. This involves an Environmental Impact Assessment as well as various specialist studies which ensure that the land we build on will be a safe environment for the children who will be in our care. Thank you to Peter Sulter at M.E.H Sulter & Sons for kindly overseeing this process.
We would like to extend a big thank you to Makana Brick who after donating the land, have offered continuous support to LIV Lukhanyiso and our mission to build a village in our city. We are also incredibly grateful to the town planners at CitePlan who are working hard to ensure that we follow all the correct procedures in the land use rights process.
