Every year Peace Players International, together with Laureus Sport For Good Foundation, host a Lead4Camp Basketball Programme in Cyprus. Here, the branches of Peace Players International across the globe, come together to take part in this camp.
The camp focused on leadership development and life skills coaching. Fatimah was chosen to represent LIV and South Africa, with five other players from different parts of KZN. She was voted for this by the Peace Players International South Africa- coaches after showing great potential as a leader on and off the court. As well as teaching sport and leadership qualities, the programme promotes bridging divides of race, culture and gender and strives to develop leaders that will impact others through changed perceptions on these controversial topics.
Fatimah’s progression to this amazing opportunity was being chosen to be part of Ethekwini District Basketball U/20 Team when she was merely 13 years old. This team took part in the South African Local Games Association (SALGA) Tournament. Fatimah played in every match and the team managed to bring home the gold medal. What an incredible achievement!
