At the start of the year 2020, we had put together a comprehensive fundraising and marketing strategy. There were plans for numerous events and awareness campaigns for the year. These of course had to be put on hold when the national lockdown was announced. Looking back at the year, we are blessed that we were able to adapt and continue to expand LIV Lukhanyiso.
The implementation of the national lockdown in March of 2020 brought with it great concern about the wellbeing of some of the most vulnerable citizens in Makhanda – the children. LIV Lukhanyiso was excited to start a partnership with The Diocesan School for Girls (DSG) and St Andrews College to feed over 100 children in our city. The partnership with this school community helped us reach people all over the world to tell them about LIV Lukhanyiso and the work that we do. The young ladies at DSG took it even further by running a fundraising campaign where they sold buffs that reminded buyers to “go the extra mile” and make a difference to the less fortunate. Thank you to everyone in this school community who stepped up during a crisis and worked with LIV Lukhanyiso to bring hope to the hopeless.
Meeting the mayor
In July 2020, we had the opportunity to share the vision of LIV Lukhanyiso with the Mayor of Makhanda, Mr Mzukisi Mpahlwa. At LIV we believe that when the church, business and government work together, we can truly make a difference in South Africa, Africa and the world over. We still have a long way to go, but this meeting with the Mayor paved the way to building a sustainable relationship that is focused on providing the best possible care to our city’s most vulnerable.

New Website
As the whole world moved across to doing most activities on virtual platforms, we launched our new website. A big thank you to the team at Weaverbird who helped us put together a comprehensive and exciting new website that captures the heart of who we are. Through the new website, we have already seen more donations from our online platforms and have increased the number of people visiting our site, learning more about what we do.
Headstart Kids
In September 2020 we were excited to launch a partnership with Headstart Kids, in providing Nutrilite Little Bits food supplements to the children in our community. Nutrilite Little Bits is a micronutrient supplement for malnourished children age 6 months to 5 years old. When taken daily, Nutrilite Little Bits helps these children get the nutrients they need to thrive in their growth and development.
