There is always a tangible excitement in the air whenever The Sharks visit LIV Village.
The Sharks Rugby Team has been a major partner of LIV since 2012. These rugby players often open their hearts to LIV, in many different ways. On the 2nd of October, the Currie Cup squad visited the village for a training session on the LIV rugby field. Once again, the patience these gentle giants have with our children, was a touching thing to behold.
The Sharks had a very interesting warm up session with the little ones asking all sorts of questions about the training equipment, jumping on the players and “helping” them to do stretches. We are not entirely sure if the team was properly warmed up when they started with drills and training on the main field…
After an intense training session in the scorching sun with loads of curious onlookers, the team split up into smaller groups of 4-5 players and was taken to have lunch with our mothers and children in their homes. The LIV mothers are known for their hospitality and they prepared lovely tables with delicious boerewors rolls and treats for The Sharks.
Over the years, the players have become a big hit with the LIV children. The way they communicate and interact with the kids is truly admirable. Many of these players are monthly donors and The Sharks also love to spoil our kids with tickets to go watch their games at Kings Park Stadium. This is obviously such a highlight for the children and LIV Village will always be the nr. 1 fan of The Sharks Rugby Team.
We are extremely grateful to the Cell C Sharks for reaching out to the children of LIV Village and impacting their lives in such a profound way. LIV needs many partners to make the vision of rescuing, restoring, raising and releasing leaders a reality.
You too can get involved! There are plenty of ways for businesses, churches and individuals to become a part of the LIV Family. To find out how you can, contact info@liv-village.com.
