On Saturday, 4th May LIV Durban hosted an Open Day sponsored by long term partners TSA, LIV Clean and Super Tyres. LIV has always been open to invite the public to come out to the village (situated in Cottonlands) and see what we do in order to rescue, restore, raise and release leaders into South Africa.
The day kicked off with staff and volunteers helping to set up bouncy castles, inflatables, stalls, and food stands. Although the sky was overcast, this did not put off any of the team as they eagerly busied themselves with the final preparations.
Their efforts were not in vain, as at 10 am the first visitors began to arrive. Families from all over Durban entered the LIV entrance ; our rainbow nation coming together. The bouncy castle obstacle courses were particular favourites for young and old alike, as the children (and adults) raced each other up and down the course.
At 11 am the LIV Choir performed a mixture of English and Zulu songs. It was beautiful to see these young people using the gifts and talents God has blessed them with and bringing joy to our visitors.
At 1 pm we had our very special guest come out to see us – Sharkie from the Cell C Sharks! Sharkie was full of fun and cheer and lead a huge crowd of children in singing and dancing around the multi-purpose hall.
The day finally began to close with the last few guests reluctantly leaving in dribs and drabs. The day had been an amazing success. The aim of the open day was to show people the amazing work God is doing here in the hearts and lives of the children of South Africa. We showed them a village full of children who laugh and love one another, who have hope and a future because of the God who provides.
LIV Durban would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone who came to visit as well as our amazing sponsors. Until next time!
