LIV Champions Day happens once a year for all of our volunteers and partners from LIV UK. We get together to pray, hear updates, celebrate, eat and work out what each person is able bring to add to the LIV story.
This year, LIV Champions Day took place on the 1st of September and it was a joyous affair with 65 champions attending. With everyone who came, both friends new and old, we once again realised just what an awesome thing God has been doing to knit us all together.
Gill and Chris Stevens welcomed everyone upon arrival. As the administrator and communicator of LIV UK, Gill had organised the entire event and started us off with an official introduction to the day and program. She then handed on to Russ and Ben Mclean who led wonderfully in worship. The presence of God increased in the building, it was a celebration of God as a Father. With LIV being a place where “children come to know their Father in Heaven”, it was fitting that all LIV Champions were reminded that we are all His children.
At LIV we believe in family and restoration in all the expressions it can take. The LIV UK family is a not just a group of people who are able to “help from afar”, they are individuals who have stories that have been interwoven in the fabric of what God is doing at LIV. Jonathan McCririe, LIV Leadership
Carita McCririe (LIV Leadership) shared an update of where LIV is at and her heart for the village. It was again such a timely reminder of all the amazing things God has done but also a huge encouragement to think about all that is to come with new villages and the children who will be “released” in the coming months. The champions then had lunch together. Gill and Chris had prepared beautiful food and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their fill. After lunch, Jono McCririe then joined his wife and there was a Q&A session on life at the village and South Africa.
Part of the vision for the day was to make sure that everyone who wanted to had the opportunity to continue to invest in the lives of the children of LIV in whatever capacity they felt God was calling them to do. As pens and paper were sent around we decided to worship again and respond from a place of intimacy with God what each person would give their “yes” to and commit wholeheartedly.
At LIV we believe in family and restoration in all the expressions it can take. The LIV UK family is a not just a group of people who are able to “help from afar”, they are individuals who have stories that have been interwoven in the fabric of what God is doing at LIV. We are so grateful to have such a loyal, loving, prayerful and generous family- even if they are in a different country.
Thank you to all our champions! Your name is well deserved and fitting. To Gill and Chris, who everyone seems to find family with, we are overwhelmed by your hearts and commitment. We don’t know what we would do without you, you are truly god-sent.
As our Father continues to bring hope and restoration all over the world in some many ways; it is right to acknowledge that Champions Day 2018 was exactly that for all who attended. What a day! What a family! What a Father!
No matter where in the world you find yourself, you can partner with LIV Village to rescue, restore, raise and release the future leaders of South Africa. To get involved, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
