A year and a half ago we were asked a question “how would you see a gap year on the village?”, having had a bubbling from the inside for a few months we knew the answer..it fitted perfectly with LIV’s “rescues, restore, raise and release”, a vision to rescue identity, restored with intentional discipleship, raise people up by serving and releasing young people to be the church through internships. This is what we set out for in 2016, we held on for dear life and had the time of our lives. Here is part of what happened; 17 young people joined us from near and far, expectant and clueless that an ambush of the Holy Spirit was imminent. We didn’t give it away, but we were clueless too!
We pursued truth in identity teachings where masks were removed. We wrestled, questioned, laughed, cried and prayed together. This whilst getting hands dirty serving around the village and trying to avoid sun burn (many failed!) We started to learn how powerful a mustard seed “yes” is in God’s Kingdom growing together into the fullness of life. Young people started to dream dreams as they realised you can be the church without being inside walls….
The burdened became free, darkness was cast away by light and once believed lies were replaced with truth and life. Jesus became their lifestyle, freedom a reality and possibilities endless. The young people who gave a small “yes” came to realise that “rescue, restore, raise and release” was not just for the children of LIV Village, but it was also their story. In their giving of themselves they became the recipients.
Everyone on the program grew and made the most of their opportunities. Each had been hand picked by an awesome Father in Heaven who had set this time aside to set apart His children. Many mountain tops, many valleys, He was Faithful. We became family, we did life.
