LIV UK Launch

LIV UK has been officially registered as a UK charity and was launched last Tuesday evening at a very special function.

JWT and Barrows pulled out the red carpet and did LIV proud as they organized an evening to remember at their magnificent building at No 1, Knightsbridge Green, opposite Harrods, in London.

The building looked like a LIV office with banners and posters of the village and the LIV children everywhere.

Pimms cocktails were served on arrival and 120 guests mingled on the beautiful outdoor roof garden in what had to be the hottest night in England for many a year!

A British barbeque, to match any South African braai, was the surprise of the evening. We didn’t know the Brits had come such a long way!!

Shaun Pollock, our ex South African cricket captain, was the MC and introduced our 2 guests, John Smit, ex South African rugby captain, and Gary Kirsten, the South African cricket coach. Shaun asked them some interesting questions, and stories about the characters of both games were shared and enjoyed.

Check out our photo’s from the event on our Facebook page.

We are so grateful for the time and support these special LIV Ambassadors give to us. John Smit’s Barney’s Army Foundation are assisting with the laying of the sports field at the village.

Tich shared the journey and the vision, ending off with a video of ‘a day in the life of a LIV child’.

Many LIV friends were made that night.

Lady V of JWT, and your staff, Brent, Ian and Lesley from Barrows, and of course Max (Barrows CA turned photographer for the night!) what can we say except you are all stars in our eyes. LIV salutes you and awards you with gold medals all round!

LIV also congratulates the whole of London on a magnificent Olympic Games.

It was such a privilege to be in your city for the last few days of the games. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and full of fun from the moment we arrived at Heathrow. Two moments will be etched in our minds for many years to come: watching your Queen ‘parachute’ so elegantly to the opening and seeing your mayor, Boris, who is everyone’s favourite, dangling from a trapeze like wire over London.

Well done. You did Britain proud!!

Someone out there, please extend an invitation to Mayor Boris to visit us at the LIV village. The children want to teach him to dance and to do somersaults on their trampoline!
