LIV School Opens on 15 August

The milestones are being reached weekly! We are no longer a farm but a village. Our first 5 mothers and 3 children are in residence, settling into their new homes and village life. We cannot express how we feel to see a vision, given 13 years ago, finally coming to fruition.

Monday 15th august is the first official day of the LIV school and opened its doors to our 4 pupils. They include 2 boys, age 9 and 10 years, belonging to Mama Kitty and Mama Dudu, and the 7 year old daughter of Mama Priscilla, along with Elijah, age 9, who is the son of our village manager, Elliott, and Dolly.

The red house, which was the first house built, is the temporary school building. Our 2 volunteer teachers are Bronwyn Bodley, who has been working in Malaysia for the past 4 years, and Monika Lindas, our Norwegian missionary teacher, under the guidance of Margo Reid, ex headmistress of Durban Girls College and Umhlanga College.

Livingston School is partnering with LIV and have offered their assessment facilities and the services of their OTs and special remedial teachers to assist us.

Damien Lourens heads up our sports programme, and Lisa Louw has offered her skills and talents in the field of art, along with Des and Ant Govender, from Destiny Music Academy who will be introducing music and drama lessons.

Enjoy the photos which show the birth of LIV School.
